Elderberry Immunity Syrup: How Much, How Often
Elderberry season is here!
Elderberry is naturally anti-viral & antibacterial. It is wonderful for flu! It's a diaphoretic meaning that it naturally lowers fevers without danger to the body. It's great for cold, flu, high blood pressure and more! Taking this preventatively and heavily during the first onset of cold & flu can help you to not get sick, or get less sick.
My elderberry is available most of them time through the winter. I make it sporadically so if your interested just reach out!

How Much Do you Need to Take?
We drink it at the first sign of cold pretty aggressively. I like to gargle with it for about 10-20 seconds and then swallow it.
Approximately 2 tbsp every 2 to 4 hours at first sign of cold. Continue this for that first day and you can go every 3-4 hours the next day. For children cut the dose in half.
Kids absolutely love this stuff and you'll likely need to hide it from them. Remember raw honey for children under 2 is not recommended. For them I would suggest just a straight elderberry tincture, which means the elderberries just soak in vodka for 3-4 weeks. This is very effective, easier and it lasts for years. AND it's still very tasty!
Tinctures:
Take less of the alcohol tincture. I would to 3-4 droppers every hour at the first sign of cold with the tincture. For children cut this in half, for infants quarter it. Tinctures do not require refrigeration as they are alcohol based. This may be combined with water, juice, tea or put into smoothies. Gargling with elderberry tincture and water is good too.
Elderberry Syrup keeps for approximately 3 months in the fridge, but it's rare that anyone has it that long because it's SO good!
Enjoy!
