What You Need To Know About The Dangers Of Fluoride

If you want to know why fluoride is in our water supply read "The Fluoride Deception" By Christopher Bryson. It's a great read- especially if you like history. It reads like a who-done-it with a tragic outcome: the people of the world continue to pay the price at the tap!This post is in response to inquires about fluoride, fluorosis (white marks on the teeth from fluoride), & how to get it OUT of the body.  
First of all, you might be asking, "What's wrong with fluoride?"
These are the ailments, illnesses & diseases that I know from research are contributed to by fluoride. 
  • Lowered IQ
  • Hyperactive Behavoir
  • Infertility
  • Thyroid Dysfunction
  • Bone Growths
  • Fractures
  • Osteosarcoma
  • Decreased Immunity
  • Neuorological Problems

Mind Blowing! My First (Of Many) Ionic Foot Spas

After 15 Minutes of Soaking. I began to smell the chlorine in the water, coming out of my body. This water WAS purified.Can I just say, OH MY FREAKIN' GOSH! I just had my very first ionic foot bath and WHOA! I've never seen such sludge in all my life! I can say whole-heartedly that I am a believer in the detoxifying ability of this machine! This is something that anyone who is working to get healthy, detox or feel better must try and make apart of your regular natural health regiment.

Simple Juicing Recipes For The Rookie Juicer

My recommended reading for those new to juicing is 'Juicing for Life' by Cherie Calbom. The fruits and veggies that are in bold are my favorites.

  • Carrots (about 6-8 medium size) 
  • Celery (2-3 stalks)
  • Apple (1 apple)
  • Beet (1/2 to start, increase to 1 beet) 
  • Ginger (1/2 to1 inch to start) 
  • Oranges (no more than 2 per session) 
  • Cucumber (1 half)
  • Sweet Potato (1 half)
  • Grapes (1 handful)
  • Any kind of Melon (1/4 melon)
  • Tomato (no more than 2 medium tomatoes)
  • Lemon & Lime (no more than 1)
  • Pineapple (no more than what will fit in your hand)

Fasting Works For Me

Juicing has really improved my health in the last year.

The most noticiable change is my digestion; less bloating, gas, easier to maintain my weight, stay active and look younger. With a focus on vegetables and fruits I have more energy which is nice. I know that I'm getting the antioxidants I need to stay healthier longterm too! I also have noticed with juicing (and taking iodine & herbals) that I have less period pain and fewer days of cramping; also a bonus. 

There are alot of little things that change when you begin to juice. I feel like I dont have to work out as much to maintain my weight for example. Which is good because Modern Hippie biz is hopping! Juicing is easy excluding the cleanup!), delicious and so good for you and your family. (kids too!)

Spring Cleaning For The Bowels

Cleansing the bowels with these suggestions will help encourage elimination. Ever think about doing a bowel cleanse?

There are SO many ways that you can do it. You can get kits, you can take pills, powders, oils and so on. This blog post contains a custom made bowel cleanse that I created for a client and I decided to share it! The main goal of a bowel cleanse is to ensure stagnant waste is moved out of the bowels, to bombard the bowels with healthy substances it needs to function well, and to establish healthier habits for continued bowel health. Spring cleaning really does apply to more than just your house!

Defeating the Yeast Beast

This is the Renew Life Critical Care recommended by my Naturopath. I've trusted Renew Life for years. Pick this up at Better Health with a coupon if you can as it's pricey. Chronic yeast infections are not something to put a bandaid on...

...And by bandaid I mean Monastat, Vagasil or any of those other over the counter creams or suppositories. This will only suppress this illness for a short time, only to have it rear it's ugly head later. As it did with me. I used Monastat in my early twenties for yeast infections that I would get about once a year or so. 10 years later, here I am dealing with it for keeps, naturally.

For me this battle with yeast began with the removal of the mercury from my teeth late last year; just days later the yeast began to detox from my body, with a vengeance! Mercury toxicity actually impedes the body's ability to reduce yeast overgrowth. Now that the mercury is gone, the yeast is subsiding. I have flare ups but as long as I avoid beer, too much refined sugar and stick to the program below, I'm defeating the yeast beast. Healing is about perminant lifestyle changes, not temporary quick fixes. Ho Hum.

Oil Pulling Diary: Day 1

A Modern Hippie fan reached out to me asking what I thought about oil pulling. I have heard of it but I didn't know anyone that was doing it and I decided to do the experiment with it myself.

Oil pulling is swishing natural oil in your mouth for 20 minutes first thing in the morning. This technique has been done for hundreds if not thousands of years and has a variety of healthy benefit claims including, whiter teeth, better gum health, detoxification of mucus, decreasing the bags under the eyes and dark circles and more.

Gallbladder Cleanse; Avoid Surgery & Improve Health!

This one isn't for the faint of heart.  I'll bullet point the directions for you first;  then elaborate on some second hand experience.  I haven't done this one YET myself.  But I do believe that next month is the month! woo-hoo!

  • Begin taking the herb Hydrangea 5 days to 2 weeks prior to a full moon; Take between 12 and 18 per day. Hydrangea acts as a natural solvent to stones.  The moon's "pull" will help facilitate a better cleanse.
  • Fast for 2 days on Organic Apple Juice (preferably freshly juiced organic apple juice) It may be diluted with water too.  If you buy apple juice make sure to get a high quality organic brand form a health food store. 
  • At the end of the 2nd night before bed, quickly drink down a 1/2 cup of Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil mixed with a 1/2 cup Fresh Organic Lemon Juice. 
  • Lay down to bed on your right side.  Arrange the multiple pillows to help you stay comfortable there.
  • You'll likely wake up in the middle of the night and pass the stones as you would stool, or early the next morning.

Herbs & Natural Dietary Suggestions for Kidney Stones

Kidney stones can be a real pain in the, well- Kidneys!  Renal calculi (a.k.a. kidney stones) are typically lodged in one of the ureters (tube connecting kidney to bladder).  This can block the flow of urine and be very painful.  For some people they experience no pain but the stones can become quite large and must be dealt with as if they continue to grow, they could cause a blockage and become painful down the road.  If the blockage becomes really bad the urine backs up in the kidneys and can cause serious kidney damage. 

Stones are a sign that the body is not in mineral balance.  Since the stones are made mostly of Calcium, this tells a bit about what is happening in the body.

Want to Detox Your Liver? Start Making Green Drinks with Dandelion Leaf!

A friend on Modern Hippie mentioned wheat grass today and I LOVE wheat grass; it's just not always the easiest thing to come by.  You usually have to get it at a health food store and it's about $3 for 1 ounce! It's tough to make at home, unless you are super dedicated,  live near a whole foods, and have a masticating juicer.  So all these stars don't align for everyone all the time and I'd like to talk about the next best thing, Green Drinks! 

Green drinks only require greens (maybe a piece of sweet fruit), distilled water and a blender.  Distilled water is important as it pulls minerals from the veggies your blending and deposits them into the distilled water which is naturally mineral free.  This is also why drinking distilled water for long periods of time can lead to mineral deficiencies as it will pull minerals from your body! Not good!

What I like to do is get me some nice romaine, green leaf or red leaf lettuce; use about 5 leaves.  Then I pick up something really nice and bitter like Dandelion greens.
